San Diego's Premier Community Concert Band and Wind Ensemble
The San Diego Wind Ensemble is the premier large group within the San Diego Music Consortium. The SDWE is a 50 piece wind ensemble made up of local professional and semi professional musicians dedicated to performing some of the most challenging literature available.
Under the direction of Vince Hernandez since 2023, the SDWE engages audiences and its members playing every genre of music including standard wind ensemble literature, marches, ballads, jazz, movie themes, show tunes and other popular music.
The SDWE performs up to four concerts per year and rehearse weekly for 6 weeks preceding each concert. Members rotate in and out for each performance as their availability allows however a core group of musicians come from and perform with the North County Winds and other smaller groups within the San Diego Music Consortium.
Most of the SDWE members minimally can play at a collegiate skill level and the ensemble regularly performs grade 4 and 5 pieces. Members are expected to be able to learn difficult music in a short amount of time and be prepared for the performances with limited rehearsal time.

The San Diego Music Consortium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded entirely by donations and member contributions.
