San Diego Music Consortium

The San Diego Music Consortium is an organization whose members are a collection of professional and amateur musicians of all ages dedicated to:

• performing challenging music at the highest quality level.
• supporting music education in local schools.
• encouraging individuals to play music throughout all stages of their lives.
• fostering friendship, camaraderie and community.
• supporting local musicians with their insurance requirements, venue booking, and marketing.
• having fun!

The SDMC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that engages audiences and its members playing every genre. Our vision is to have a consortium of ensembles from vocal, jazz, orchestra, to youth ensembles.  

Currently we have two large ensembles, the San Diego Wind Ensemble and North County Winds. The San Diego Wind Ensemble rehearses on a six-week schedule and performs quarterly. North County Winds rehearse weekly throughout the year.

Additional smaller ensembles like the San Diego Clarinet Choir, San Diego Saxophone Quartet, and North County Brass are made up of SDMC members.

Members pay $50/quarter to perform in any number of groups as a means of covering the costs of renting rehearsal and performance space, the purchase of music, directors’ fees, insurance and other operating expenses.

We love making music and sharing that with each other and the community. We are constantly striving to improve as musicians and as an organization; look for ways to give back to the community, local school music programs and students.
